I like the idea of creating something new and different. I had a friend once who said that he felt like he was writing his autobiography constantly and he wanted to make sure it wasn't boring. I feel the same way. My life hasn't been boring.
I've reached a point in my career where I make a very good living. I get paid a lot in salary and I'm the author of a textbook that sells very well. In fact, I make so much money that I've considered retiring early. But I enjoy my job. So I'm trying to figure out if there are ways to spend this money that will make my life more enjoyable. That will probably make me want to work longer, which will probably make me end up with even more money than I would have if I retired.
I also have a beautiful apartment in Seattle that I love, but it's too much for one person. I really would like to find a way to share this place with other people. The deck is amazing in the summer. The participants might decide they just want to hang out there all day for several days. They can work on a tan or whatever. It's a huge space.
I don't have children or a wife or a husband to support. I give money to some causes that I care about, but I would rather give the money to something I really care about. I care about the gaining community. I like the idea of spending money to create something new. I hope it will inspire people.
And I get to meet some great people and have a blast for two weeks. That's worth a lot of money. I work really hard for 9 months a year, so I should spend money to have some fun in the summer.
